Free Lunchtime CLE: Travel Ban Waivers with Michael Davis
Free lunchtime CLE co-sponsored by AILA MN/DAK Pro Bono Committee and Volunteer Lawyers Network. The topic is Travel Ban Waivers in Consular Processing. Local AILA member and consular processing expert Michael Davis and his paralegal Brenda Perez will lead a 1 credit CLE and discussion on travel ban related issues in immigrant visa processing at consular posts abroad. Subjects covered will include:
–Who does the Travel Ban apply to (countries and visa types);
— Procedures for requesting waiver including post-by-post rules and questionnaires, what documents to include, how to present the request, what is meant by the “National Interest” waiver criterion;
— How to follow up on pending waiver requests;
–What to do if the consular officer did not solicit waiver at visa interview.
Please come prepared to ask questions and share your own anecdotal information on this important subject.
