In response to the July 6, 2020 ICE/SEVP Announcement concerning F-1/M-1 International Students enrolled in academic institutions with online only instruction during the Fall 2020 Term, the AILA MN/Dakotas Chapter is hosting a roundtable discussion with attorneys, DSO’s and other impacted stakeholders.

This discussion will begin with a brief 15-20 minute summary of the ICE/SEVP Announcement and updates regarding litigation by Harvard and MIT challenging the announcement, followed by a facilitated discussion among attendees of common questions and concerns raised by this change.  The discussion is also intended as a forum allowing for the sharing of ideas and planning strategies to ensure F-1/M-1 students are able to maintain status and preparing for “worst case scenarios.”

Presenters/Facilitators:

  • Marissa Hill-Dongre, University of Minnesota International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS)
  • George C. Maxwell, Borene Law Firm, P.A.
  • Sarah K. Peterson, SPS Immigration PLLC

The Roundtable Discussion will take place remotely via Zoom.  A link to the Zoom meeting will be sent to participants Thursday morning, prior to the discussion.
